Dear MAUSD and ANWSD Families,
We are writing to announce an exciting new partnership between the Mount Abraham Unified School District (MAUSD) and the Addison Northwest School District (ANWSD) designed to expand ACT 77 Flexible Pathways for our high school students. Starting next school year (2025-26), we plan to offer a course-based school choice program that will allow students from each district to access courses in either High School while maintaining their enrollment status in their sending school.
The Flexible Pathways Initiative, created by Act 77 of 2013 and found in statute under 16 V.S.A. ยง 941, encourages and supports the creativity of school districts as they develop and expand high-quality educational experiences that are an integral part of secondary education in the evolving 21st-century classroom. This collaborative effort between MAUSD and ANWSD is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible education for our students, even as we navigate the challenges of changing demographics. By pooling our resources and expertise, we aim to ensure that every student has access to a diverse and robust curriculum that meets their individual needs and interests.
Over the course of this school year, we will be working closely with staff in both districts to iron out the details of this program. Our goal is to create a seamless and beneficial experience for students, allowing them to take advantage of courses in either district while still primarily attending their home school. We recognize that transportation is a key factor in making this program accessible, and we are actively exploring solutions to provide transportation options for participating students.
We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings and are confident that it will greatly benefit our students.
