My name is Nicole Grzywna, I will be returning for my second year teaching physical education at both Beeman and Monkton schools this year. I am a native Vermonter currently living in Richmond! I attended the University of Vermont, where I graduated with a degree in Physical Education (K-12) and a minor in Coaching. Coursework at UVM themed around “Moving and Learning” including specialty courses developing appropriate aspects of physical education to children and youth in today’s schools.
When I was in grade school, I kept active with cross country skiing, horseback riding, snowboarding and road biking. Currently, my primary interests have shifted to weight lifting, scuba diving and horseback riding. It is a goal of mine to translate my passion for lifelong fitness activities into my teaching, thus providing students with broad opportunities.
My philosophy is to provide all children an opportunity to be successful in a wide range of movement, knowledge, and skill-building experiences. I’ve always enjoyed being active, and I attribute this to all the great memories I had as a child playing sports and staying active. One of my beliefs is that if children have initial positive experiences being active, that will lead to a lifelong enjoyment of movement. My goal is to provide all the students at Beeman and Monkton positive experiences in P.E class and to promote a healthy lifestyle in and out of school.
